On creation of the Department, the Assam Electronics Development Corporation Ltd (AMTRON), a Govt. of Assam undertaking, was transferred from the Industry and Commerce Department, Govt. of Assam, and brought under the administrative purview of this Department.</p> <p>    The Department has onerous responsibilities of promotion and development of IT/ITeS sector industries, creation of ICT infrastructure in the state, implementation of various IT sector schemes, promulgation of IT and allied Policy and its implementation, advising the Government of Assam on all IT related matters, functioning as an administrative body for all IT related matters of the Government of Assam.</p> <p><span dir="ltr" role="presentation" style="left: 11.76%; Administrative Department: The Department of Information Technology, Govt. of Assam is headed by the Addl. Chief Secretary or Principal Secretary followed by the Commissioner and Secretary.</p> <p>b. Directorates under the Department:</p> <p>Assam Electronics Development Corporation Ltd. (AMTRON), which is a Nodal Implementing Agency of the Information Technology Department, Govt. of Assam, is a Government of Assam Enterprise registered under the ROC, 1956, and was established in 1984 with its registered HQ at Bamunimaidan Industrial Estate, Guwahati.</p> <p>“Directorate of Information Technology, Electronics and Communications (DITEC) was created by Government of Assam vide notification No. IT 14/2014/Part-I/15 dated 31-12-2016 to guarantee the envisaged outcomes of every programme and policy initiatives of the government of Assam.
