  • A valid contact number is mandatory to sign up for a digilocker account.
  • Authentification of the contact number is done via an One Time Password (OTP).
  • Citizens will have to select a Username and a Password.
  • For better security, choose a strong password with mixed characters. 
  • Sync Adhaar card for better accessibility and additional services.
  • Citizens can sign up free for a digital locker.
  • DigiLocker is a full-fledged online service.

Overview

Digital Locker is Government of India's cloud based platform for issuance and verification of documents & certificates digitally.

With DigiLocker, you can:

  • Access your documents anytime, anywhere.
  • Share documents digitally for verification.
  • E-Sign documents (which is similar to self-attestation).

Eligibility Criteria:

The person applying for a DigiLocker must have-

  • A valid contact number
  • Aadhar Card

How to apply:

Signing up for DigiLocker is easy - all you need is your mobile number.

Your mobile number will be authenticated by sending an OTP (one-time password) followed by selecting a username & password. This will create your DigiLocker account.

After your DigiLocker account is successfully created, you can voluntarily provide your Aadhaar number (issued by UIDAI) to avail additional services.
